Comments for I climbed Uluru in 1984

My friend and I visited the Rock in 1978. This was also before it was viewed as a Sacred Site and climbing the Rock was encouraged. It was indeed an arduous and amazing climb but the view at the top was incredible. There was a pillar with a diary for entries from people who made it.
Have just returned from there (2018) with my family to show them Uluru as it is now.
The area is now a national park. There is a hotel resort now and high charges to get from hotel to park and another to get a bus to the base. In 1978 - we stayed in a hostel at the rock base and that was it! The Olgas were amazing. Last time we didn't quite get up in time for sunrise... (!) This time it was cloudy... and rained! Still incredible - the rock is the same but hotels, airport etc new. Still incredible though!
